Damn, I have moved to Latvia just few years ago, having thoughts like yours... to have a nice looking and mild Latvian wife, to live in a small but cozy place, enjoy the nature... but hold on, in the last year I am starting to feel I am disappointed with something... not sure by what exactly... but it seems it could be the Latvian politics! During the latest 20 years of independence from USSR Latvian government sold almost all the manufacturing industry, killed MAJOR fabrics (in sugar/condenced milk/fish/metal/electronics...), now they are going to introduce EURO in 2014, despite as we all see, there is a very bad position of Euro in the Europe itself... stop, when I've been re-locating here, I was thinking it will be a truly *independant* country - now I see it becomes just a part of "invasion"... "European humiliation" if I could speak so.

So it is very good position like yours, to protect your own land and country... the things you actually won't meet here

You must have known that some places in China are rich whilst the other ones are poor...Let me tell you the whole story.You can gogle"jiangnan"or"Wu-chinese".Actually,Wu-China is the richest region and produce most of the scholars in ancient China.This is to say,Wu-Chinese are proud since ancient time.At that time,Shanghai was simply an annoymous place.But after British people invaded us,Shanghai was gradually turned into an international port city..So,first group of immigrants to Shanghai came,most of them are from Wu-China,some of them are elites in their hometown.They are industrious,shrewd and good at business,so naturally,they became the dominant class of Shanghai.But There are also some other immigrants coming here who come from poor places(such as Henan,Anhui,Subei),and what they can do is only to serve as labour or gangsters even betrayer when Japan invading.So Wu-Shanghainese used to descriminate those "Shanghainese".In addition,they speak Madarian while we speak Wu-Chinese,so we disliked them more.Nowadays,Chinese government compells us to speak Madarian instead of Shanghainese in school(It's a humiliation to our culture,right???)
In addition,many people from those unpopular places come to Shanghai,they don't behave well and make our city dirty.Now,in Shanghai,half of people are non_Shanghainese&in Suzhou(also center of Wu-China)70% of people are non-Suzhounese.We call them"YP",for we DISLIKE them,and YP girls,they shame us,they often go to the bar to hook foreigners,they want to marry Shanghai boy,so they can get the Shanghai citizenship,get our property and most disgusting they will take ALL of their family from their dirty hometown to Shanghai.Most of the Shanghai parents forbid their chindren to marry a YP,but for sure,foreigners can,we are glad that they help us to deal with rubbish.That's why if you gogle Asian girls/Chinese girls on dating sites,it's very difficult for you to see a NATIVE Shanghai girl on it.Finally,just tell you,the reason why thoses YP girls come to Shanghai bar is only to hook foreigners,so I never I there and I feel they and their dialects are dirty.

Also, even watching the top pictures above, I must say I understand now why there appear much less of such pictures on the dating sites nowadays, despite even 5 years ago Latvian social networks were full of "YP"-girls. Girls from the poorest regions obviously did find their foreign marriage, and those girls who left, are not that shameless opened and dirty.

So most likely, these days could work for you giving a chance to find a "proper" girl in Latvia - however who knows! Although you have said what kind of men Latvian girls don't like,but I am still a little confused about it.
I think that Latvian girls like such kind of men:bronze skin,athletic,humorous,confident,daring...But after many years' exams&school trainning,I truly fear that whether I can qualify for girls' demands.You know,my teachers and parents forbid me to be in love with one girl and concentrate on study before entering a university(before 18 years old),but after entering university,I don't know how to show a girl I love her.This is to say,when I meet a girl I love,I will appear very timid,shy and awkward.In addition,before 18,I spent alomost all of my time on exams and homework,so I seldom do exercise,even now,very unathletic.For lack of exercise,I dont have bronze skin color....I actually don't know what will they think of me.

Thanks for letting me know about English teaching in Shanghai, I must think of it or at least spread this news amongst my friends Actually I know few people who are ready to relocate, but don't know where exactly. Still I must say, there should be a young person to relocate, probably below 25 years old... because when you are over 30, travelling and relocation become difficult.

Well, it's a bit prejudiced telling and probably misinformation that Latvian girls/women may like such type of men you mention (bronze skin,athletic,humorous,confident,daring). It appears like you are telling about kind of Prince on the White Horse, but reality stands far more than this. You will wonder to know, but most of Latvian "aged" girls are considering Brain as the first weapon of a man Because it's the only "original quality" of a man which can't be faked. A man can "create" a bronze skin for himself in solarium, he could be athletic just starting the morning from 30 minutes physical exercises, he could be daring taking others experience or friends advices... but he can't be clever if he's not clever. The sense of humor includes this A man can't have a sense of humor if his brain is too weak. So you have all chances to be loved , but... in your case, I would simply recommend to look for a bit older woman than you. Young girls won't rate your brain most of them really care about money, not a man. Because it's the young age- you don't have to think about the future, but spend the life here and now. Latvian girls are not exception - everyone of us likes money

I would say, the age of a woman matters, but the age of a man, if he's taking care about himself, may be compared to the age of wine. As older he gets, as better. I know a modern tension, nowadays girls prefer to choose from the older men, which are possibly over 30 and may be fit in 30-40 year "limits". I know many examples of 22-25 years girls being married with 30-40 years old men - this is purely fine. So you have all chances - but surely, you must hurry to take the best passion - good girls are rarity, the same way good men are rare, too

I believe China nowadays has the largest and most powerful economics in the whole world. In Latvia, you rarely will find a good which is not produced in China. Clothes, shoes, souvenirs, accessories and so on... in that aspect, Latvia is very weak country. It's not ready for war at all The estimate yearly value of Latvian Gross Domestic Product is about 26 mlrd. dollars, which is 1,5 times smaller than Apple's clean profits in the recent year.

Being honest, those "middle-age" and "middle-class" people living here do not believe in raising of Latvian economics anymore. The current national politics will not allow it. It's basically the same situation as it was in Germany in 30s when Hitler took his powers to give his land an industrial injection. Latvia would need something similar now, but we have no such strong leaders. Latvian government is a funny, not a practical one.

I'm not sure if you have meant you don't want to "leave" or to "live" because they are different things I think it's always safer to live in a place, which has a powerful economical ground. And it's better to leave a place, which has no facts to survive in economics. This is what happens in Latvia now - people are leaving this country that's why it's a bit of miracle that someone still would like to arrive and *live* here.

Few people in politics start to think about that, but honestly - it's impossible for Latvia between Latvians themselves, which is a very young and non-stable nation, there can't be a leader because the history of the nation and language is not ready for it. Nowadays Latvian politicians are trying to get off from the managing the country and let EU commissars doing it. Then what kind of leader we could talk about, if Latvian government (Saeima) consists of 100 different people from different organisations, and there is NO President election in Latvia by regular citizens. Saeima appoints the President, it has nothing to do with people, he can't be a leader. All Latvian presidents of the past 20 years were passive marionettes...

Any war is bad. Unfortunately, in the last years even more people start to think and talk about the war. I must agree I believe something like this happens
