Hey all!
Latvia celebrates the national
Ligo day, so called
Jāņi, today and tomorrow and so each year on
June 23-24. It's one of the rare Latvian holidays, between those the New Year celebration, Christmas, and Easter. It seems Ligo is the only one Latvian national holiday!
At this day, there is a tradition to
eat cheese,
cook meat and of course
drink a lot of beer. This tradition as I've noticed recently, is massively used in the local beer producers advertisement. We already mentioned Cēsu beer on our forums, they have used the Latvian girl image in their advertisement posters.
Now here's the culmination: Aldaris uses a Latvian girl and Ligo image at once! Great composition. Not sure if they are purely Latvian girls, but who knows - may be these guys from Aldraris are patriotic enough to film local girls in their ads

The ad says: "For even more brighter night. A pocket lantern in each 10th package. Alcohole brings a negative influence."
Ok here is the de-cyphering: if it's clear about the last sentence - a law regulates that each alcohol ad should mention its negative effect, like on cigarettes. If for the first two - Ligo is actually related to the
June solstice. There is the shortest night in a year, and there is a tradition to look up for the
fern flower, which is supposed to appear only on the night of Jāņi. It is a symbol of fertility.
During this supposedly magical night, young couples go into the woods "seeking the fern flower", but actually it means lots of sex

And so if the pregnancy comes, the child is considered then as a "fern flower".
So it's actually the night of sex on the nature

Riga appears quite an empty city tonight! I am taking my last chances to get from the PC. The nature calls

Yes, and as it's shown on the ad, it's a good tradition for girls to get naked and go swimming into the lake

For even more brighter night! Cheers!
