Palete restaurant in Riga

I would like to know if this is the best restaurant in Riga for a romantic dinner. It

Well... If somebody from our team will be in the near future in the Riga Old Town, we will try to bring the price list.

I personally was there few years ago. My personal opinion that it is the best cozy place in the Old Riga for a romantic dinner. It's located in a quiet place and I suppose it could server not so much big crowd of people. But everything I remember so far, are their skinny sofas and the aquarium Prices were at the middle-to-high level in 2002-2003, so I suppose they would be high now as well (because every restaurant tries to get out a maximum from their visitors because of crisis).

The restaurant itself is attached to the hotel named "Vecriga". Their website is: www.vecriga.lv . But they don't have their restaurant price list on the website. When I asked to copy it, they have just send it to my email address, so now I've attached it to my message. You need to unzip the package (I hope you know how to do that), all files are .doc extension and may be opened with Microsoft Office or Open Office.

As for your "dinner for two" question, it rather depends on the taste and what you eat, but here is what I would prefer (since I am vegetarian - I know many women do not eat a lot of fat as well):

Cream soup of chestnuts with cheese straws - Ls 4,90 or
Shrimp creamy soup with garlic bread - Ls 4,40

Baked tomato with eggplants and the mozzarella cheese (from Hot starters) - Ls 4,60 or
Caesar classical salad with tiger shrimps - Ls 6,80

As for desert: Palete marzipan cake with cow berry sauce - Ls 4,80 or
Tiramisu - Ls 4,80 or
Ice Cream mix with fruits - Ls 4,20

Bottle of wine starts from Ls 18-20, but I would prefer Captain Morgan Black (Ls 2,60 per 4 cl) or Bombay Sapphire Dry Gin (Ls 2,80 per 4 cl), so I would spend at least Ls 10 for my alcohol

1 Ls is about 0,70 EUR, so you may calculate it all yourself. It appears about Ls 15-25 from one person, i.e. 20-35 EUR.

Thanks a lot for your very useful information, Lucias. I already have found the romantic restaurant. But, now I still have to found a Latvian woman. As women in this forum seem to be sleeping and I do not surrender easily, I am already registered in the web http://www.lov.ru.
Even if my Russian is not as good as my English, I cand understand a lot and, there, Baltic women are not sleeping! Thanks again.
