hallo everybody,
if you plan to visit Latvia, please take into consideration there is not only Riga. the countryside in Latvia is very beautiful, with many forrests, lakes, and natural products.
Riga is already a European city where everything moves fast and people are always busy with their problems.
The countryside is a very joyful place and the quality of contry tourism is quite well developed compared to EU standards

any castles or generally historic sites we can visit when in Riga? Any museums?

Get your copy of Riga In Your Pocket - you will find all such info there.

I think, for good old architecture you must visit Kuldiga as well.

There is one countryside i visited before which was really magnificient... very beautiful landscape and really nice folks,,, really enjoyed time over there.. is it called Vecumniek or something like that?

Yes, Vecumnieki is the little town just to spend some time in a quiet place... it's about 100 km from Riga, you can find a lot of info online...
