Rundāle Palace (Latvian: Rundāles pils; German: Schloss Ruhental, formerly also Ruhenthal and Ruhendahl) is one of the two major baroque palaces built in the 18th century for the Dukes of Courland in what is now Latvia, the other being Jelgava Palace. It is situated at Pilsrundāle, 12 km west of Bauska. It was constructed in the 1730s to a design by Bartolomeo Rastrelli as a summer residence of Ernst Johann von Biron, the Duke of Courland. Following Biron's fall from grace, the palace stood empty until the 1760s, when Rastrelli returned to complete its interior decoration.
You can easily reach Rundale by bus or car, it's just couple of hours from Riga. Besides of the palace's walks, you may enjoy also Latvian cuisine in the palace's restaurant.
The curious fact about this palace, is that it's kind of "lovers place". The palace has an indefinite feeling of erotica. If you have a girl-mate or boyfriend, don't hesitate to visit it and feel this smell.
By now, I could mention two of the most astonishing actions ever legally taken in this palace.

Perrier water advertisement, starring the famous porno star Dita von Teese.

Most recently, the guys from the Finnish department of the "Big Brother" show also filmed their advertisement of the next show's 7th season. This palace really belongs to the lovers places! You can see in this video a very tiny dressed sexy brunette, walking through palace's rooms and seeing two girls relaxing on the giant bed.
