What makes a Country valuable...?

How to start this... some will find this provocative, I am sure. I just find it basically sexier to go to a country where people have enormous self - esteem, maybe even arrogance, a place where people COME TO and not where they GO AWAY FROM. To think of Latvia as a breeding ground for beautiful women, who then go abroad to find a foreign partner in order to make a living, somehow doesn´t satisfy me. Croatia is a good example of a place that, freshly emerged from Socialism as the whole region, did manage to recover and is today a high-rolling destination for big yachts and the rich and famous from all over. Prices at par with Italy, on the coast anyway. And the Latvian beaches are so much nicer in comparison... ! Granted that the ancient Roman architecture in Croatia is an asset that they didn´t have to pay for and that still attracts. The Germans, on the other hand, built, or rather rebuilt, a couple of hi value resort towns on the baltic that used to be GDR, and they did a nice job, although the effect is very much confined to these resort places and doesn´t radiate out of them the way it does in Croatia. I also admit that the weather plays a role. So, what could Latvia do? It doesn´t take so much, I think it all starts in the head...

I think, most of all, mentality of the country makes the country valuable. Latvia has lost its own mentality in 20 years, because two opposite nations are living on the same piece of land. Additionally, the age of cultural education of nation makes the country more valuable. Root Latvians are very young nation; comparing to Russians living here for hundreds of years as well, they are too "green" in everything, including the possibilities to make this country rich.

Oh yes, you've mentioned Latvian beaches! Truly we don't have lots of them, but it would be quite possible to use all of them with a maximum profits. In USSR times, Latvia was very well know with is resorts. However then the independence times came up, it seems the Latvian government was not prepared to regulate it. Sad fact!

Professionally Latvia is not a country for Jobs or making money in a good business.

VERY GOOD. My thoughts exactly. When I saw these groups of Latvians queuing for work in NORWAY, I wondered why it is not the Norwegians queuing for work in Latvia. I know that there is Oil and Gas, which without any doing of their own made Norway rich; but there is something else, mentality. They have always considered themselves the very navel of the World, and so did the Arabs too, 700 years ago when there was no talk of Oil. That is the right attitude, and that is sexy !

Well, Latvians would try it for sure.
But nobody has a special wish to work for food for trying it out.

For me it appears, in the last 20 years of "independence", while thousands of Latvians were migrated, and the others were considered as the "cheap working slaves" with no warranties in the deeply adult times, as they were getting (and still getting) salaries without taxes paid, so called "black salaries"; and you should pay a tax even from the income which is bigger than 45 Lats, thus work until you turn over 65 - huh?.. could you say about more perspectives of "merchantable asset Production" for this country?

Sometimes advices like this do not make fun...
