I have been living shanghai for 18 years. I got a bacholar degree in chinese capital city-- Beijing for 4 years. and I have gone south Korea as an exchange student for one year. I also have gone Japan as an exchange student for one year.

I am very happy to hear that you like Chinese language. you also have some knowledge about Chinese language style. however, it can be easy to learn 2000 symbols and we still have language grammar which is a little bit similar to English(America). we have conjunctions and they are used in dfferent time (pass ,current, future).

I think Latvia have some traditional culture which is similar to Russia. I don't know whether you are willing to marry a Chinese or Asian people? because Latvia is not very open to the world and the situation in your country is different from the United states.

If you want to learn chinese, it is better to have Chinese-English dictoinary. or you find a good Chinese teacher?

Well, I'm usually always recommended to start learning language from books You just take a book and translate it using dictionary. That way you learn not only the meaning of words, but also their correlations in sentences and their soulful meaning.

So, what kind of easy-to-read and understand books of Chinese writers would you recommend? May be some books for kids, as the beginning.


I think Latvia is more opened to the world than Russia, at least we have no borders with European Union, we have no visas for USA and Australia, at the time while getting in Russia, you need to pass a lot of bureaucracy tricks.

As I know, Chinese language have 12 level for the foreigners. You should learn from the basic. what's kind of book, it doesn't matter. It all depends what kinds books for you easy to get.

In China, if I am willing to learn Latvian language, it is very difficult because I can't search even one book which is related to Latvia. I do not know whether this situation happens in Latvia or not? Could you easily find a book which is related to Chinese language? If you could, please take it. In my view, it is very basic book for foreigners what is sold outside our nation.
