Hi people Im Jason just a newbie here. I have a female Latvian friend who is lovely. I would like to get to know more about your culture and ways and maybe meet some one.

Welcome to our community, but you have to be more precise about your questions. It's hard to tell everything about culture in one message. Culture splits actually to many areas. What would you be interested in to know at first?

Hi thanks for the welcome I would like to know what things interest Latvian people. Your values things that are important. What are your family values music tastes that sort of thing.

If we talk about music, each person has its interest. Latvians listen to what the major part of the world listens to, and also in some way to local musicians. If I say we are up to the regular pop music, that would mean it.

But there are also some significant music composers in Latvian history, the first to mention are Raimond Pauls, Imants Kalniņš, Zigmārs Liepiņš (I've put the link over the last name - you may find some free MP3s there as well to take a listen).

From the rock bands, I would mention Brainstorm i.e. Prāta Vētra. Greatest mainstream rock band in Latvia so far.

What other interests do Latvian people have? I think they are similar to what everybody has on this planet. They want lots of money, they rate family values, they want a social protection and so on.

Well, why to discuss something privately? We have these forums specially for bringing all questions to public. That way you have more chances to get answered.

Hmmm good comment plomb. As I said in a different thread I see Latvian people like sarcasm is your sense of humor this way? If so great because us English love taking the piss out of eachother lol. These are the things I want to learn.
